From a behavorial darwinism point of view, heterosexual males should love gay men: two potential competitors for female partners take themselves out of the running in one fell swoop. Conversely, lesbians are the worst-case scenario. The converse holds for women, of course.

When you look at surveys of men and women's attitude towards homosexuality, you find the exact opposite from what you would expect from a purely rationally self-interested point of view, however. Heterosexual women are far more tolerant than straight men of male homosexuality, and heterosexual males voraciously purchase lesbian sex porn.
