The wrath of God

Continuing on the theme of remedial Bible education for televangelists, many fundamentalist preachers ascribe all sorts of recent disasters to divine retribution for society's refusal to burn gays at the stake or teach that the earth is flat in schools. From September 11 to the AIDS crisis to Katrina, any catastrophe is deemed clear proof of God's anger at whatever axe the preacher has to grind.

Maybe they should read Genesis, chapters 18-19 and the book of Jonah. Surely, if 50 righteous people could spare Sodom its fate, there might be as many in New York or New Orleans?
